When Can You Find Out Baby's Gender?
Baby's biological sex becomes visible on ultrasound as early as 12 weeks gestational age. This is when anatomical differences between boys and girls begin to be detectable by an experienced sonographer. We offer gender scans starting at 12 weeks.
12–15
weeks
Often visible to an experienced sonographer. A follow-up may help if the view is unclear.
16–18
weeks
High confidence. 95%+ accuracy in most cases.
18+
weeks
Near-certain. Nearly 100% accuracy when baby cooperates.
How Accurate Is a Gender Reveal Ultrasound?
Accuracy depends on several factors: gestational age, baby's position, amniotic fluid levels, and — most importantly — the experience of the sonographer reading the scan.
Our primary sonographer, Michelle Pena, knows exactly what to look for — and equally important, she knows when she's not confident enough to call it. If we can't get a clear view on a given day, we'll tell you honestly and offer options.
For Greater Certainty
Gender scans are available from 12 weeks, and the view gets clearer as baby grows. If you come early and the view is unclear, we may suggest a follow-up scan. Please note that 4D/HD image quality is not guaranteed: baby's position, fluid levels, movement, gestational age and placental location all affect image clarity.
